I have long been a Dean Koontz fan. I even read books when he was writing under the name Leigh Nichols and I hadn’t yet heard of Dean Koontz.
I remember a few years back, going grocery shopping and finding the newly released Frankenstein Prodigal Son. I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait to get home and start reading it. I loved the book then. And I very much loved the graphic novel now.
This graphic novel is based on Dean Koontz’s revisitation of the Mary Shelley classic Frankenstein. However, this book is definitely Frankenstein for the modern times. No longer does Dr. Frankenstein steal his parts from the cemetery. Instead, we see more up to date science in action as he creates his monster.
Then we are lead on a wild hunt for the monster as he goes on a mad killing spree. Can the beast be stopped? How will they find him?
The drawing in this graphic novel was intense. It helped lend flavor to the already great plot that Koontz has spun.
