Sometimes security is designed to be barely noticeable, so as not to detract from the main event or draw any attention. Other times, it is deliberately obvious to tell would-be wrongdoers "don’t even think about it". The Dummy Security Camera with Blinking LED lets any hooligans know that someone could be watching their every move or at least taking some video footage of their devious deeds.
Adjustable angle bracket, authentic cable and included "warning" decals give the dummy camera with LED a realistic appearance. Its weatherproof anodized aluminum housing is rust proof and lasts for decades. Five times smaller than most simulated cameras, the unit will not detract from your property’s appearance. The flashing LED operates for 2 years on a set of batteries.
In today’s economy, it is rare for people to be able to afford an actual security system anymore. So, people have to be creative on how to protect their belongings.
In my neighborhood, there is at least one house broken into a week. The sad part is that I live in a gated community. We know who is doing it. It is a set of neighborhood kids. They have been caught and arrested numerous times. At the moment, one of them is currently in jail awaiting trial. The judge finally got smart and gave him a bond so high that his parents couldn’t bond him out.
However, being arrested doesn’t deter these kids. They take it all as fun and games. And their parents are so far in denial that its ridiculous. We even looked into seeing if there was something in our bylaws that could force them to move. Unfortunately there isn’t. And that is where the Dummy Security Camera with Blinking LED from ThinkGeek comes in.
We know that they break in on the sides of the house at the sliding glass doors. So we mounted the camera there and placed the “warning” decal on the sliding glass door. Since we have had it up, our house has not been hit. Several of our neighbors are now looking into getting a phony camera to put up too.
It was extremely easy to install. And basically you just put it up there and forget about it until you need to change the batteries. It says that the two AA batteries will last for two years. It looks so realistic too.
I did not include pictures of it at my house just in case the kids from the neighborhood see this post. I don’t want them realizing that it is a fake. So instead, I included a photo from ThinkGeek.
